Two Years Later - Learning To Love To Win More Than Hating To Lose

Gary Heart Asher Kimchi February 2023

A couple of weekends ago, I played in a tennis tournament. Then on the following Monday evening, I played doubles from 5:00 to 6:30, followed by a clinic from 7:00 to 8:30. Proving there’s no rest for the weary, the next morning, I had a training session from 6 to 7 and then played singles from 8:00 to 9:30.

Dr. Yama Akbari Current Research Funded by Roneet Carmell Memorial Endowment

Dr Yama Akbari Roneet Carmell Memorial Endowment Fund Update 2020

After Roneet’s passing, I wanted to channel my grief in ways that I could honor her memory and help contribute to bettering the world. I chose to back incredibly dynamic, bright, passionate, and innovative people with whom I had great respect that I thought Roneet would be proud of as well.

Last Friday was Roneet’s birthday. She would have been 55. I thought this would be an appropriate time to discuss ways I have tried to honor her.

As I’ve gotten older and have had more resources available in which to invest in other people and organizations,

Turning a Liability into Asset via the Sale of a 100 Year Old House

Starting in 2012, my late wife and I began to invest in residential real estate beyond our primary residence and CWS investments. In 2013 Roneet decided that she wanted to have a small weekend place in Laguna Beach. I thought it was an idea definitely worth exploring,

Purchasing Power and Paris

Paris Gary and Heather October 2022

Although the hawkish Fed has made it more challenging for many businesses in the United States, it has also resulted in some beneficiaries. One is just plain old savers who, during Covid, essentially earned 0% on their idle savings. With the Fed aggressively raising short-term rates,

Gary pain loss

I’m writing this sitting on a massage roller because I am dealing with some persistent hip and back pain. The unfortunate byproduct of this is that it has become very difficult to play tennis because each time I plant my left foot with any kind of force there is shooting pain is triggered in the left hip.

A Shattering Experience

Gary and Roneet Carmell

Saturday marked the second anniversary of Roneet’s passing. In many ways, it’s still hard to believe. And yet, because of her passing and all of the adjustments that I have had to make, quite a bit has changed as well. Early on I said that I never intended to move on but to move forward.
